Home goods innovator Kohler has recently introduced the Dekoda—a transformative device priced at $599, designed to be mounted to your toilet bowl for an unexpected purpose: capturing images of its contents.
According to a report from CNET, the Dekoda goes beyond mere photography. It analyzes these images to offer insights into your gut health and hydration levels, with the potential to identify the presence of blood. The device is equipped with a rechargeable battery, a USB connection, and a fingerprint sensor for user recognition.
The Dekoda is currently available for pre-order, with shipments slated to commence on October 21. In addition to the initial hardware cost, users should anticipate a subscription fee ranging from $70 to $156.
For those concerned about privacy, Kohler reassures potential customers by stating, “Dekoda’s sensors see down into your toilet and nowhere else.” Furthermore, they emphasize that all data is protected through end-to-end encryption.
Kohler isn’t alone in this innovative endeavor; there are other companies exploring similar technology. Notably, we previously highlighted a toilet camera developed by the startup Throne.
